Infrastructure Readiness Checklist
Evaluate readiness across the infrastructure lifecycle before a build, migration, or modernization program.
Use this checklist to identify gaps before a major infrastructure initiative. Items marked as gaps are candidates for a structured readiness assessment or scoped engineering engagement.
Print or save this page for internal review. CelesTech can validate findings through a structured Infrastructure Readiness Assessment.
Architecture & Design
- Current HLD/LLD documentation exists and is reviewed periodically
- Capacity model covers 12–24 month growth assumptions
- Failure domains and blast radius are documented
- Redundancy design matches stated availability requirements
- Technology choices are justified against workload requirements
Process & Production Readiness
- SOPs exist for routine operational procedures
- MOPs exist for planned production changes with rollback steps
- Change-management workflow includes pre/post validation
- Production-readiness gates defined for new deployments
- Operational handoff criteria documented for new systems
Deployment & Validation
- Migration or turn-up plan exists with phased approach
- Acceptance test cases defined before deployment begins
- Rollback procedures tested or validated in documentation review
- Cross-team RACI defined for deployment events
- Vendor and internal dependencies identified with owners
Operations & Reliability
- Incident management process defined with severity levels
- On-call or escalation paths documented and current
- Capacity management process exists for key infrastructure domains
- Upgrade and remediation backlog prioritized and tracked
- Post-incident review process captures actionable improvements
Observability & Telemetry
- Critical infrastructure paths have health monitoring
- Dashboards exist for NOC and engineering troubleshooting
- Alerts tied to runbooks with clear escalation criteria
- Capacity and utilization trends visible for planning
- Telemetry accessible for automation and MCP-based integrations
- Monitoring gaps identified for high-risk infrastructure domains
Automation, AIOps & AI Governance
- High-toil operational tasks identified and prioritized
- Pre-checks and post-checks automated where procedures are mature
- MCP server integration planned for telemetry and monitoring access
- AI governance defined for operational tooling (access, audit, approval)
- AIOps use cases scoped with human-in-the-loop for production changes
- Automation roadmap aligned to Process → MOP → Automation discipline
